Relationship Pollen

How do you feel about spring? Personally, I love the sight of everything blooming—but I could do without what it takes to get there. Namely, all the pollen. I know the process is essential for the growth and blooms that we enjoy so much, but man, I hate those days and weeks when pollen covers any and everything in sight. Where I live, it starts in late March and lingers through April. It makes a mess of everything and wreaks havoc on your allergies. Necessary? Yes. Enjoyable? Not so much.

The same is true in our relationships. Strong, healthy relationships always come at a cost. While the result is deeply rewarding, the journey requires effort, discipline, and sacrifice. Putting someone else’s needs before your own means choosing intentionality over impulse, and not letting our emotions dictate how we treat others. Like pollen, it’s not always pleasant, but it’s a necessary part of the process if we want our relationships to truly blossom into great ones.

Growing meaningful relationships is one of the keys to a joyful and fulfilling life. When we choose to make the effort to invest in our important relationships there is no doubt that we will make a difference.
